Music Tracks Migration

Music Tracks Migration

The Music Tracks website is receiving a new look and name, YTracker (click here: https://ytracker.byu.edu/). What's really happening is that we will be moving everyone's data from Music Tracks to YTracker, which is a similar app to Music Tracks. Both the Music Department and the Performing Arts Department needed platforms to adjudicate performances, and we created each their own app, Music Tracks and PA Track respectively. Music Tracks was created first, about a year before PA Track.

Eventually we realized that both apps did essentially the same thing, adjudicate performances, albeit one for musical performances, and another for dance performances. We decided to combine both into what we are calling YTracker. We took key features from Music Tracks and built it into PA Track, changed a few words, including renaming PA Track, and now we are finalizing the transition according to the timeline below.

Migration timeline

The plan is to continue to provide support for Music Tracks now and throughout Summer 2026. PA Track has already been redesigned and released as YTracker, and is available now for everyone to use. Data from Music Tracks has also already been moved to YTracker; faculty can use either for adjudicating performances. We are asking everyone to start using YTracker, to get familiar with the new interface. Right before we shutdown Music Tracks, one final data export will be performed to ensure things properly get saved. This means, music pieces, grades, and so on will be moved to YTracker one final time.

Starting Fall 2026, Music Tracks will no longer be available to use and will redirect to YTracker. If you have any questions about this migration effort, please contact kainalu_barino@byu.edu.
