Activities

  • To Add an Activity

    1. Navigate to Path.

    2. There are three places to add an activity. If the Unit is collapsed, click + to add an activity.

  • To Add an Activity

    1. Navigate to Path. There are three places to add an activity.

    2. If the Unit is collapsed, click + to add an activity.

    If the Unit is expanded, click Add Activity, which is located in two places.

  • 1. Under Path, select Batch Import at the top of the page.

    2. Select the type of Activity to import from the dropdown list. Only Assignments, Content Pages, Digital Dialog Discussions, and Exams can be batch imported.

    3. Select which activities from that type to import or check Select All to import all of them.

    4. After selecting which activities to import, click on one of the activities and drag them into the Unit to Batch Import to.

    5. The imported activities should now appear under the Unit they were dragged to. Select Save.

    Note: The Completion Rules for these imported activities still need to be selected in Path.

  • 1. Under Path, select Batch Import at the top of the page.

    2. Select the type of Activity to import from the dropdown list. Only Assignments, Content Pages, Digital Dialog Discussions, and Exams can be batch imported.

    3. Select which activities to import or check Select All.

    4. After selecting which activities to import, click on one of the activities and drag them into the Unit to Batch Import to.

    5. The imported activities should now appear under the Unit they were dragged to. Select Save.

    Note: The Completion Rules for these imported activities still need to be selected in Path.

From the dropdown menu, select the activity type. See below for each type:
  • 1. After selecting Assignment as the activity type, select the specific assignment from the next dropdown.

    2. Click the Completion Rules tab.

    3. (Optional) Check Require activity to require the student to complete the activity before they can complete the unit and/or progress in the unit or course.

    4. (Optional) Check Complete activity by and select the completion rule from the dropdown menu. For assignments, the student can complete the activity by viewing or submitting, marking as complete, scoring at least a certain score, or having a score submitted.

  • 1. After selecting Content Page as the activity type, select the specific Content page from the activity dropdown.

    2. (Optional) Select a Suggested Completion Date. This is not a due date; it adds a reminder to the schedule to show students where they should be in the course.

    3. Click the Completion Rules tab.

    4. (Optional) Check Require activity to require the student to complete the activity before they can complete the unit and/or progress in the unit or course.

    5. (Optional) Check Complete activity by and select the completion rule from the dropdown menu. For content pages, the student can complete the activity by viewing or marking as complete.

  • 1. After selecting Dialog Discussion as the activity type, select the specific discussion from the activity dropdown.

    2. Click the Completion Rules tab.

    3. (Optional) Check Require activity to require the student to complete the activity before they can complete the unit and/or progress in the unit or course.

    4. (Optional) Check Complete activity by and select the completion rule from the dropdown menu. For Dialog activities, the student can complete the activity by viewing, marking as complete, or responding in a discussion.

    5. If due dates for dialog activities need to be changed, these cannot be edited from the Path page. Navigate to either the Assignments page or Grades page to make changes using the Assignment Editor to edit due dates.

    Note: If a dialog activity does not have a due date (not graded as an assignment), an instructor will need to navigate to the Dialog page to add a due date.

    • Select the edit icon to the far right of the dialog title, then check Grade this discussion as an assignment in the Assignment Editor window.

  • 1. After selecting Exam as the activity type, select the specific exam from the activity dropdown.

    Note: To edit the date(s) of the exam activity, navigate to the Exams tab to edit in the Exam editor window.

    2. Click the Completion Rules tab.

    3. (Optional) Check Require activity to require the student to complete the activity before they can complete the unit and/or progress in the unit or course.

    4. (Optional) Check Complete activity by: and select the completion rule from the dropdown menu. For exams, the student can complete the activity by marking as complete, submitting, scoring at least a certain score, or having a score submitted.

  • 1. After selecting External URL as the activity type, input the title and URL address in the textboxes.

    2. Click the Completion Rules tab.

    3. (Optional) Check Require activity to require the student to complete the activity before they can complete the unit and/or progress in the unit or course.

    4. (Optional) Check Complete activity by and select the completion rule from the dropdown menu. For external URLs, the student can complete the activity by viewing, marking as complete, or visiting the URL.

  • 1. After selecting File as the activity type, upload the file by clicking Choose File. Select a file from previously uploaded files or click on New file to upload from computer files.

    2. Input the title of the file and select to display the file as inline or a download. An inline file is shown on the page, as long as the file is compatible to view in the browser. Download file will require students to download the file to open it.

    3. Click the Completion Rules tab.

    4. (Optional) Check Require activity to require the student to complete the activity before they can complete the unit and/or progress in the unit or course.

    5. (Optional) Check Complete activity by and select the completion rule from the dropdown menu. For files, a student can complete the activity by viewing, marking as complete, or downloading the file.

  • 1. Select Syllabus as the activity type.

    2. Click the Completion Rules tab.

    3. (Optional) Check Require activity to require the student to complete the activity before they can complete the unit and/or progress in the unit or course.

    4. (Optional) Check Complete activity by and select the completion rule from the dropdown menu. For syllabus activities, the student can complete the activity by marking as complete or downloading the file. If the instructor is using BYU Learning Suite Syllabus, students can also view the syllabus to complete the activity.

  • 1. After selecting Text as the activity type, input the title of the activity and input content in the textbox.

    2. Click the Completion Rules tab.

    3. (Optional) Check Require activity to require the student to complete the activity before they can complete the unit and/or progress in the unit or course.

    4. (Optional) Check Complete activity by: and select the completion rule from the dropdown menu. For text, the student can complete the activity by viewing or marking as complete.
